OUR AIM
OUR AIM

NEST aims to reach needy who is seeking for help. Our aim is to make healthcare accessible to the poorest and the most deprived sections.

PROJECT JYOTI

India has the largest population of blind people in the world. That's over 8 million people. Most of them live in the poorest parts of the country with little or no access to even basic health care facilities.
Project Jyoti is the very first project of NEST, aiming to help with better vision to the society. While cataract can be treated with a simple surgery. Evidence suggests that lack of money is a major barrier to uptake of cataract surgery among the poor. 60% of the poor who are affected by cataract turn blind due to financial constraints. Poverty deprives them of access to healthcare and bad health deprives them of an income.
Nandan Environmental & Social Trust (NEST) attempts to prevent free eye-check ups & subsidized adult cataract surgeries. This program runs in rural areas of Patna. In collabration with Chandigarh Eye Care(CEC) NEST is providing the best healthcare. Majority of the patients in this program are underpriviliged adults who come from rurals areas about 250 km away from the hospital.

covid

The sudden outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic sent the whole world into a whihrlwind. Countries got a high amount of COVID-19 infections and many people died. Keeping this in mind, the Government of India announced a nation wide lockdown. This was a vital step in putting brakes on the infection rate.

All workplaces, except the essential sector, came to a standstill and people were told to stay indoors as the deadly virus started to spread rapidly. The people who suffered most becuase of this situation were the migrant workers.

Neither were they able to earn to feed their families nor were they able to travel back home for survival, putting them in deep trouble. Seeing their grave situation, NEST came forward to provide them with free food for survival.
